Austin Bachelorette Itinerary and Guide

Austin, Texas is a lively and unique city to visit which makes it one of the most popular destinations for a bachelorette party. I had my bachelorette party in Austin and can definitely say it was one of the most fun weekends of my life! There are a wide variety of activity options in Austin that can match any vibe or budget.

Is Austin a good destination for a bachelorette party?

YES! Austin is a great location for a bachelorette party because it is accessible and affordable. There are flights to and from most major airports around the US and housing is much cheaper than other popular bachelorette destinations. There are also a variety of activity options in Austin that will match the energy of any bride. Depending on your group’s itinerary and activities planned, it is possible to plan a bachelorette in Austin on a budget by cutting down on meals at restaurants and booking a house with a pool.

Best time to visit Austin, TX

Spring and fall are the best times of year to visit Austin because it will still be warm enough to enjoy water-based activities but most likely won’t be too hot. My bachelorette party was in early September and while it was still hot, it was comfortable to be outside.

The summer will be hot but as long as you have indoor and water-based activities planned, it is manageable. The winter will be more mild but there is the potential for cold temperatures.

Where to fly for an Austin Bachelorette party

Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is the closest airport to fly into for an Austin bachelorette party. There is a public bus that runs every 15 minutes from the airport to downtown Austin for only $1.25 a person (cash only). The drive is about 35 minutes total and will be much cheaper than a rideshare app which will be ~$25 depending on surges.

Transportation in Austin

Uber and Lyft are the easiest way to get around Austin. My bachelorette party house was about a 15 minute drive to downtown and we had no issues ordering multiple cars. If you are planning a large group activity outside of downtown Austin, I recommend booking a large bus or van for your group in advance.

House rental

Here are the 20 best rental properties for a bachelorette party in Austin!

The good thing about planning a bachelorette party in Austin is that ubers are readily available so you do not necessarily need to be walkable to everything you have planned for the weekend. Depending on your group size and vibe, a house rental may be a better option for you over a hotel. This way you can all stay together and even plan some group activities at the house as a way to save money!

Definitely check out houses or apartments on Airbnb or VRBO for your group size and budget. This was the house we booked for my bachelorette party and it was a total vibe! It was a little farther to downtown than other options but we planned a lot of activities to be at the house so it was not an issue.

The Cocktail Cowboys are such a fun addition to any activity you have planned at the house. I hired the same company for my bestie’s bachelorette in Scottsdale and we had the BEST time with them. They will serve drinks, organize games, pamper you, DJ, take pictures and clean if you want! They are at your service to bring all of the good vibes to your party. Even if your house does not have a pool, The Cocktail Cowboys would be the perfect addition to pregame a night out downtown!

Barton Springs is one of the most iconic spots to visit in Austin. It is a natural swimming pool and it is SO refreshing and fun. There is even a diving board if anyone in your group wants to show off some skills! It costs $9 per person to enter the main pool area.

Lake Travis Boat Day

Lake Travis and party cove was my favorite activity of my bachelorette party. There are tons of boat rental companies depending on your group size and if you want a shared or private boat. No matter what, I definitely recommend planning this activity for your Austin bachelorette party! We were a large group (20 girls) so opted to take a party bus to the lake to save the hassle of organizing car rides.

Pedal Tavern Pub Crawl

This is a classic bachelorette party activity and is so much fun to do in Austin because of the lively downtown scene.

Vineyard Tour

There are actually a few famous vineyards on the cusp of Austin and taking a tour there is a great activity for a bachelorette weekend! This would be so fun to organize with a party bus so you will be entertained on the ride to and from the vineyards.

The best bars for an Austin bachelorette party

what to do on a Austin bachelorette

There are two main areas for nightlife and bar hopping in Austin for a bachelorette party. Rainy Street is home to a few lively unique bungalow bars and is slightly more low key. West Sixth Street is a walking street lined with clubs and bars that will have you dancing all night long. Our group had a blast splitting a night out between these two locations.

I also feel obligated to add that my friend and I both had our phones stolen on Sixth Street right out of our purses. I mean, who steals the bride’s phone?! All jokes aside, there are tons of fun bars for a night out in this area but it is important to stay aware of your surroundings and use the buddy system! Don’t worry, we didn’t let it ruin our night out.

Club promoters will approach you as you walk down Sixth Street and offer free drinks if you come into their bar, especially if you are a bachelorette group. There is nothing wrong with taking them up on their offer to kick off your Sixth Street bar crawl!

Unbarlievable

This is a unique bungalow bar on Rainey street with a slide and other fun aspects! Our group had a great time chatting with the bartenders and going down the slide here.

77 Degrees Rooftop

Stop at this rooftop for a drink to take in the epic Austin city views.

Clive Bar

This lively bar is on the bottom of Hotel Van Zandt and typically has live music.

Broken Spoke

This is another fun live music option downtown Austin.

Bangers

Bangers was listed above as a great place to eat as a large group but it is also a fun bar at night with live music.

The Jackalope

The Jackelope is where my bachelorette party spent most of our night on Sixth Street. There is great music playing and plenty of other groups to meet here!
