A Voyage vacation is all about creating a stress-free environment with only the best vibes! The goal of this trip is for you to experience the local culture while living your best life on a catamaran and maintaining a healthy balance of partying and relaxation. Athens is a major airport in Europe, so there should be a multitude of flight options no matter where you are starting your journey from!

Cost and Payment Details
Cost details
Cost estimate: $1,800 per person
Cost includes: A spot on a luxury catamaran (housing and transportation for the week), itinerary planning, booking fees, and skipper payment
Cost does not include: Flights, additional transportation, boat provisions, bar and restaurant costs, early check-in and boat comfort package (mandatory charter costs)
Costs are subject to change based on the boat size and final group number. We are currently expecting the cost of the boat and skipper to be around $1,800 per person. In the past, the cost for groceries and alcohol per person for the boat has been ~$300 and weekly expenses for activities, bars and restaurants are typically around $800 – $1,200 depending on your spending habits.
We have now done sailing trips similar to this in Sardinia (2024), Croatia (2017 & 2023), Greece (2019) and the British Virgin Islands (2022). The total cost (not including flights) for the week has been consistent around $3,000. Costs vary in each location, but that is a typical budget to expect for the entire trip.

FAQs
Read below for some frequently asked questions!
Q: What are the sleeping arrangements like on the boat?
A: Most catamarans have 4 double cabins, 2 single cabins and space for a maximum of 2 people to sleep on the pull out bed in the saloon. The skipper will take one of the single cabins and we recommend trying to put a maximum of 1 person in the saloon.
Q: How long do you sail for each day?
A: The sail times vary for each day but for this route in Greece, the average sail time is 2 – 3 hours per day.
Q: Do we hire someone to drive the boat?
A: Each boat will hire a professional skipper through our skipper network for the week. They are responsible for keeping us safe all week long and will handle driving the boat. They may need occasional help with the anchor or lines when docking. The guests are also responsible for feeding their skipper for the week.
Q: Do we get off the boat during the week?
A: Yes, definitely! While the boat is our housing and main form of transportation for the week, the itinerary is a mix of exploring different islands and cities off of the boat.
Q: Do people get seasick?
A: Seasickness does occur on trips like this but it is typically very minor and does not impact your overall experience. It is best to be prepared for seasickness before boarding the boat and have remedies ready during the week!
History of The Voyage x The Jet Lag Journey
We first fell in love with sailing trips when we went on our first trip together in 2019 on The Yacht Week in Greece. While we absolutely loved living on a sailboat for a week surrounded by amazing people and iconic views, there were certain aspects of being a guest on a trip that big that we did not love. First of all, was the pricing. We learned that these big companies upcharge you for your boat an insane amount and they are not properly compensating their skippers with that upcharge. Second, we did not love being on such a strict timeline. There were multiple times during the week that we were enjoying an activity and had to cut it short because we were required to maintain a specific timeline due to the amount of boats running the same route. Lastly, we felt this trip was only focused on the party aspect of a sailing trip. While that is a fun and important part of a social trip like this, it was a bit too much.
Because of those aspects that we did not love on that trip in Greece, we thought, why can’t we just plan our own sailing trip in a way that matches our travel pace and goals? We planned and ran the first Voyage trip in the British Virgin Islands in January of 2021. After that, we knew we were hooked and only wanted to plan sailing trips ourselves moving forward! The next trip was in Croatia in June 2023 where we had 3 boats and 30 guests attend! Then in 2024, we had another group of 35 people sail with us in Sardinia, Italy.
The goal with Voyage is for you to experience all of the best aspects of a sailing trip and focus on experiencing the local culture while maintaining a healthy balance of partying and relaxation. We keep a loose itinerary in place in order to make sure the group can socialize and experience the fun together, but not strict enough that if you want to do something different, no worries! We believe that travel is about choosing your own adventure and The Voyage allows you to do that while giving you access to a vibrant social scene.
